Magnolia floral fit and flare midi dress in beige, styled for brunch

How to Style a Midi Dress for Brunch

A midi dress is the easiest brunch outfit there is. It's polished enough for a café table, light enough for a warm afternoon, and it needs very little to finish the look. Here is how we style ours.

1. Start with the right fabric

For daytime in warm weather, breathable fabrics matter more than anything. Pure cotton, like our Poppy polka dot midi, stays cool and easy. Soft chiffon, like the Bluebell and Magnolia, moves beautifully and photographs well.

2. Choose shoes by the mood

  • Relaxed: flat sandals or white sneakers for a long, slow brunch.
  • Polished: nude block heels or strappy sandals to lengthen the line of a midi.
  • Garden or beach café: espadrilles or wedges.

3. Keep jewellery and bags simple

When the print or embroidery is busy, like our Wisteria, let it do the talking. Add small gold hoops or pearl studs and a neutral sling or straw tote. On a plain colour, you can add a statement earring or stacked bangles.

4. Cinch or leave it loose

Many of our midis have a tie waist, like the Freesia. Tie it snug for a defined waist, or leave it loose and relaxed. Both work, so pick whichever feels right on the day.

5. Add a light layer

Air-conditioned cafés can be cool. A cropped denim jacket, a light shrug or a linen shirt tied at the waist adds a layer without hiding the dress.

Quick pairing guide

  • Floral midi: neutral flats, gold hoops, straw bag.
  • Polka dot midi: tan sandals, a tote and minimal jewellery.
  • Solid pastel midi: pastel heels, pearl studs and a small clutch.
